Who is responsible

What we collect and why
1. When you send a form. We receive what you enter: your name, email address, company (if you give it) and your answers about your project. Why: to answer your enquiry. Legal basis: steps before a contract, at your request (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). How long: up to 24 months after our last contact, unless we start working together. Then we keep it as long as the law requires for business records.
2. The lead source note. If you accept analytics, your browser stores a short note in sessionStorage for the current session: the website or campaign you came from (for example google, linkedin or a utm_source tag) and the first page you saw on this site. It holds no name, email or other contact details. If you send a form, the note is sent with it. Why: to understand which channels bring enquiries. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). The note is deleted when the browser session ends, or if you choose Necessary only.
3. Google Analytics (only with your consent). If you accept analytics in the banner, we use Google Analytics 4 to see how visitors use the site: pages viewed, rough location (country or city), device type and how you arrived. When you send a form, we also send an event called generate_lead with the page and the source channel only. It never includes your message or contact details. If you do not accept, Google Analytics is not loaded. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). You can change your choice at any time with the Analytics settings button in the footer. Google may process this data outside the EU, including in the USA. Google Ireland Limited is the provider for the EU. See policies.google.com/privacy.
4. Ahrefs Web Analytics. We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to see overall traffic to the site. This script loads on every page, whether or not you accept Google Analytics. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f)).
5. Settings in your browser. Your browser stores your analytics choice and your light or dark theme, so the site remembers them.
6. Server logs. Our server keeps standard technical logs (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser) for security and to fix errors. They are rotated automatically and older entries are overwritten. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Who else receives data
- Our hosting provider, Hetzner Online GmbH (server in Helsinki, Finland, EU).
- Our email provider, Google Workspace (data may be processed outside the EU), which delivers form messages to us. The forms themselves are processed on our server at Hetzner.
- Google, for analytics, only with your consent.
- Ahrefs, for overall traffic statistics.
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete or export your data, to limit how we use it, or to object to it. You can withdraw consent at any time. Write to contact@farshidghaffari.net. If you live in the EU, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top.
